Chapel Yard play sessions
We offer 3 x 1 hour 45 minute play sessions a day.
On Tuesday to Friday play sessions are at 8.30am-10.15am, 10.30am-12.15pm & 12.30pm-2.15pm.
On Saturday play sessions are at 10am-11.45am, 12pm-1.45pm, 2pm-3.45pm
Ages
Our play areas are best suited for ages ranging from 0-6 years. In our larger room we have a soft matted area with toys for the babies.
Booking a session
Our play space is free to use! Anyone can come to any of the sessions by booking a table. Each table is bookable for up to 2 adults & 4 children. You can book a table through the link below. For larger group bookings please see below.
Arrive at any time within your slot
You do not have to arrive at the start time or stay until the end of your session. You are welcome to arrive & leave at any point throughout your session.

Once you arrive, the play space is upstairs at the cafe.
Parking
There is plenty of free parking around Chapel Yard. There are a a number of parking spaces directly outside of the cafe on Church Plain (W3W outraged.crackling.variances). However you will also find free parking on Mill Street, a 2 minute walk away (W3W: ///smelter.slyly.clinic). Or on Burgh Lane, a 4-5 minute walk away (W3W: ///belief.vaccines.oath)
A few rules
We REALLY want to keep the play space free to use for everyone, in order to do this we have set 5 important do's and don'ts. Please read through them carefully before coming to your session. You can view them via the link below.
Ordering & table service
When you arrive please find a table and get settled in. To order food & drink you can either order at the counter downstairs. Or order through our 'Order & Pay' system using the QR codes displayed on the tables. Once your order is ready we will bring it up to you.
Food for the little ones
We kindly ask that you do not bring your own food to the play room (thanks!). To mark the opening of our new play area we have added some new items to our menu including crudities, fruit pots, bagels, sandwiches and ice cream sundaes!
Cancellations
We totally understand if for some reason you are no longer able to attend your session. If this is the case we kindly ask that you cancel or amend your booking so that others can use your space. This can be done through the confirmation email you would have received after booking.
Walk-ins
Everyday we will save a few tables in the play room for walk-ins. So you are welcome to turn up at anytime. However we do recommend booking before you arrive as this guarantees you a table. If you arrive without a booking please speak to a member of our team before going upstairs to the play room
Last minute bookings
Tables in the play room can be booked up to 3 months in advance and up to 30 minutes before the start of the session.
Large groups
If you wish to arrive as a large group you are welcome to book multiple tables to accomadate your group size. We recommend trying to do this well in advance in order to ensure there are enough tables available.
Soft play
As well as our interactive play areas we now have a matted area with toys, for the really little ones!
Booking back-to-back sessions
You are welcome to book more than one session in a single day. If you book back-to-back sessions we will require you to leave the play space at the end of each session. This is so our team can clean the space properly before the start of the next session. We will also require you to make a new food or drink order at the beginning the second session.
Buggy store
We have space inside the cafe for a few buggies, as well as a designated storage area outside in our courtyard. Please speak to a member of staff upon arrival and they can show you where this is.
Loyalty points
Earn points while at your play sessions using the Sumup Local app. Redeem these for free drinks, sweet treats and more at Chapel Yard!
Furry friends
Although we do allow dogs in our ground floor cafe space, they are not allowed in the upstairs play areas.
Play room shop
Our upstairs play room shop is stocked full of childrens toys and clothes as well as a few treats for the adults! If you see anything you would like, please take them downstirs to purchase.
